Exotic cars are something that the average person will see on their walls and online, but rarely in person. Despite this, they continue to fascinate people the world over. However, for those that can actually afford them, these monstrous toys can steal your breath.

From Bugattis to Corvettes, boundaries continue to be pushed by exotic automobile makers. Their rich histories make it almost a responsibility for them to do so. But there are some exotic and luxury cars that seem to be one in a generation, and thus they are often highly sought after.

If you’re an enthusiast, here are five of the most sought after exotic cars for you to drool over.

1. Lamborghini Countach

This is arguably the most recognizable exotic foreign car of the 1980s due to the Cannonball franchise and numerous other cameos. The Countach is a cult classic.

Legend says it was created because the founder and former CEO, Ferruccio Lamborghini, lost a bet to friend and company forefather Bob Wallace where he had to drive it all the way to Sicily and return to the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese. If he made it, then Lamborghini would build it.

We know who won the bet.

2. Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey, a company from the middle-of-nowhere, Tennessee, has been known to take existing exotic cars and push them further than previously thought possible.

However, with their Venom GT, they went ahead and built their very own. It is based on the Lotus Elise frame and has a jaw-dropping 1,244 horsepower and a twin-turbo LS7 engine.

With a top speed of 270 mph, this Tennesseean is a true beast.

3. Audi R8

Known as being the luxury choice of Marvel’s Tony Stark/Iron Man, the Audi R8 series has put in work to become synonymous with being a playboy’s playtoy.

It always boasts a great 0-60 time, with the V10 Plus making the jump in 3.1 seconds and a top speed over 200 miles per hour. If you want to be a real-life Tony Stark, you’ll want this car.

4. McLaren Speedtail

The McLaren Speedtail was bred with Formula 1 racing on the mind, and its nod to McLarens of yesteryear, such as the F1.

It has many similarities to the F1 as well, such as a similar seating arrangement, a teardrop rear like the F1 LM, and it also shares its need for speed, clocking in with a top speed of about 250 miles per hour.

5. Ferrari 250 GT0

One of the most expensive cars even now, this is a truly iconic classic.

Only 36 of these rare cars were produced between 1962-1964 and has won numerous accolades, including 1st place at the Tour de France and 4th at Le Mans.

If you do happen to get your hands on one, you become part of an exclusive invite-only owners club, talk about unique.

Exotic cars are many people’s dream. But owning one can be only a reality for a few. If you want to move the car from the pictures to your driveway, it’s time to get to work. Next thing you know, maybe that Ferrari will be sitting in your garage.
